Khadija von Zinnenburg Carroll
Khadija’s recent books include Interrogation at the Embassy (Edition Taube) and Art in the Time of Colony (Ashgate), a monograph in which she experiments with the reintroduction of poetics in the writing of art history.
Her explorations of ekphrasis have been published in Word and Image,
VVVV, and exhibited as videos and performances, most recently at the 2012 Marrakech Biennale,National Museum of Australia and the London Institute of
Contemporary Art.
The works presented here were written in the former Australian Embassy to East Berlin and its identical neighbour, the Iraq Embassy. These buildings and their histories are part of an ongoing project that began during an artists' residency, research project, and exhibition that later included inviting others to respond to the embassies and continues to the archives and further embassy existences.
